Planning Your Visit

To see the main sites and the museum thoroughly, you should allow at least 3 to 4 hours.
  • Opening Hours: The park itself is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You can visit at any time, even late at night or early in the morning.
  • Admission Fee: FREE. There is no entrance fee to enter the park ground
    • Note: Only the Peace Memorial Museum requires an admission fee.

Peace Memorial Museum

  • The main facility for learning about the atomic bombing.
    • Tip: Includes a museum shop (books, postcards) and audio guide rentals.

The Rest House

  • Located near the bridge to the Dome. It offers tourist maps, a cafe, and a souvenir shop.

Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims

  • Located underground between the Museum and the Cenotaph.
  • A quiet space for reading survivor testimonies and viewing names/photos of victims. Free entry.

Essential: Due to high demand, entry is managed by time slots. It is strongly recommended to book your tickets online in advance to ensure entry and skip the long lines at the ticket counter.

  • Dec – Feb: 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM / 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Sep – Nov & Mar – Jul: 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM / 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
  • August: 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM / 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM

Crowd Forecast & Peak Times:

The museum can be extremely crowded depending on the time of day and season.

Busiest Seasons:

  • School Trip Seasons: Late May and mid-October to mid-November. The museum will be packed with large groups of students.
  • Specific Dates: August 5th & 6th (Peace Memorial Ceremony) and the Obon holiday (mid-August).
  • Holiday Periods: Cherry Blossom season (late March to early April) and Golden Week (late April to early May).

Off-Peak Season:

January & February: Generally less crowded compared to the peak seasons, though there are still many visitors.

Peak Hours:

  • 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
